PROFILE

Role and Functionality of Dept.:

DISTRICT WATER MANAGEMENT AGENCY (DWMA), DWMA has been created as a separate establishment by bifurcating from DRDA in the year 2001 exclusively to look after development of Human resources and Natural resources on Water shed basis.The chairman of the Project is District Collector and the Project is looked after by Project Director.

MGNREGS

MGNREGS scheme in Krishna District aims to enhance livelihood security in rural areas of 49 Mandals by providing 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every House hold whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.Another aim of MGNREGS is to create durable assets like Roads, Canals, Ponds etc., Labour – intensive tasks like creating infrastructure for water harvesting, drought relief and flood control are preferred. The implementing agencies are 971 Gram Panchayats of Krishna District.

The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, (NREGA) was notified on September 7, 2005

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), also known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) is Indian legislation enacted on August 25, 2005. The MGNREGA provides a legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do public work-related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage. The Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), Govt of India is monitoring the entire implementation of this scheme in association with state governments
